I started to use an orb at lvl 117, then i got a lvl110+15 orb.

 

My mage got enough stats on str, agi and talent to have my items.

150 on health and rest on spirit, with that I can easy tank r6 of sod with energy shield lvl7.

 

To tank r7 solo is impossible for a mage, unless you got VL =)

Shield has more block and require more stat points on strength.

Orb has lower block but alot more defense.

go for orb only if can can high age like +16 and above and use it when u r 125+++ otherwise shield FTW

I think he meant SHIELD (+1x IMO Like 24%B) until u Can afford a High lvl and High age Orb...

Orb is useful for low map (train), the damages of mobs are very weak and you need to tank many, so defend and abs are more needed than % block.

For training, you need to tank around 20-30 mobs, so I rank in order: defend, abs, block, HP.

 

Shield is useful for hunt, the damages of mobs are very strong, and you can't/shouldn't tank many of them. Furthermore, their attack rating are very high, so they rarely miss. So I rank in order: HP, block, abs, def.

but are mgs good in hunting? i think they are not? correct me if im wrong

They are not good in hunting, fact they are the worse hunting class.

 

BUT, that will soon change, Mages are getting a big Boost on Death Ray and Dancing Sword ^^

I don't know exactly but I have heard some rumours that Death Ray will be from 6-8 times strongar than it is now.

 

I don't know when it will be implanted, but I think it will be in May.
