Monster AoE damage vs a pet now always damages you if you're nearby. What's your opinion?

Wartale

Before last patch, monsters attacking AoE against your pet/crystal would not damage you. Now it does. What's your opinion on this?

 

Btw, Shadow Sanctuary monsters doing 10000+ damage on these AoE hits to you when they are targeting a pet is a bug.

in my opinion if the idea of a pet is that tank for you, does not have any reason to you take the damage.

I liked more the old way, with a pet / crystal able to full tank.

I know if we are being realistic, it is an aoe skill so should be "normal" that also hit the chars around him.

But the problem with the current system is the ranger classesgain another huge advantage, after all, they dont receive damage since can hit from far.

 

I think aoe from mobs, when are fighting a pet/crystals dont must hit chars, only pets (if some pet/crystal are near, they will receive a bit of damage too.)

It not feels like a challenge, since a pet are protecting you. Actually I found out annoying.

Yesterday I were in SL and my party mate's pet were useless. We have received damage from pretty much every mob existing right there.

I was wondering if the ranged player takes damage even far from the pet fighting the monster.

If so, in my opinion fix only that.

If not, I like then only those who suffer AoE damage are the melee which makes the most sense.

The problem here, is that the rangers got badly accustomed in the "hunt mode".

Rangers use pet / xtal to tank and use build pure for High attack.

However, in the new map, using items 140 + 22 (armor / shield) and adding a bit of vitality, you can tank well (and I believe it's the right).

 

the mobs of the new map, die fast (compared to SL), adding pet / xtal to tank will make it much easier.

 

Edit: Only for New Map.

This isnt about the new map or how crystals / pet work there , this is about how crystals are working now on every map.

But if u went AW or SL before last patch, fought alone using a fs or ks (using crystals), and u compared with an archer or ms, the rangers already have a very easy hunt.

Now, with the latest patch, the mele hunt changed for worse.
 

Like I said before, being realistic is the most normal thing, but I think the idea is keep some balance between classes too.

 

@Wartale not really sure, but I think mostly of ppl are thinking that u talk about the pets / crystals on shadow sanctuary.

considering 1k hits are a bug then it is just perfect right now...

 

also i think ranged classes being forced to wear armors is a good thing cuz it increases variety of builds and make ranged spec armors as desired as other spec armors are.

 

but i think the exp income must be just 15% better than SL, no more than that... to avoind SL becoming an abandoned map

that change is actually only bad for melees, since ranges  are out of the AoE damage =p, so i kinda prefer as it was before.

 

Anyway, i still think it shouldn't have pets tanking for players in shadow sanctuary, but, summon will be useless... so my suggestion is to disable the ability of mobs targeting Crystals/Pets [ even if the pet attack the mob, he will still attack the player] in that way,  summons will still be useful as an damage source or support buff[ chimera of light], i would suggest also to increase the AR/attack power based on the caster level [ 275~300 dmg atm is nothing]. Also, i would suggest to increase a little the spawn rate of witches [ since they can turn pets against summoner], so summoning pets will still be risking, [ and with the extra damage might be an actual a threat to the summoner, lol].

I think it works only for Shadow Sanctuary, but maps like SL will be forgotten.

I think old mode is better (pet + crystal tank)

I still didnt try it. I hope it didn't ruin COMPLETELY the hunt of low heathed melee classes
