If T1 is balanced and T2 comes along and makes thing op then T2 is the culprit. if T1-2 are balanced and T3 comes along and screws things up T3 is the culprit....... if t1-4 are balanced and T5 comes out then the last part that was added is the one screwing things up. Yes i agree that T5 will affect T1-4. However if T1-4 are balanced and T5 is added and balanced then guess what everything is still balanced. If T1-4 are not balanced and 5 is out then things will be weak and others OP and you wont know the true cause. And matter of fact if there are fundamental problems with Char formulas then the problems can become exacerbated even more extensively. You see your so stuck on your view point you cant see anyone elses. I'll sum it up easily time, you are trying to say skills are independent variables that have 0 relation to each other, that is essentially the only way the theoretical model of balancing T1-T4 then adding T5 works [since T5 will NOT effect how t1-t4 works]. You're trying to prove there is no relation among these variables and they are not dependent upon each other. Fire axe will boost the damage of all attack skills for FS, there is clear relation there and basically your arguments and others are trying to say there is no relation. Its not a matter of being stuck on my viewpoint, if you can prove to me there is no relation among skills, that they have no dependency on each other, I'll gladly accept the other viewpoint as feasible. Chain skills are a great example of the dependency of skills within one another. Buffs are also going to be a variable in any skill such as if you want to calculate destroyer, you have to add the effects of berserker, concentration, swift axe, fire axe, etc., to do a proper calculation. I'll leave it at that, I think I've spoken enough and derailed this topic poorly enough arguing over something simple [apologies to TS]. More on topic: -Despite my initial criticism, martual does have a clear point that can be justified. Wartale does a lot of great work, but hes a single man. On top of all the server work and his real life, I doubt he has much time to log in game and extensively play all 8 classes, that is even too much to ask of regular mmo development teams, let alone a single person. Even as players who spend a lot of time on this game, we rarely master more than two classes. For example, I'm not a expert on mech. Some people are sometimes confused by his changes or wondering why some things haven't been done, this isn't really sandurr's fault. Basically he can do a little testing, but nothing near to the extensive depths we can with our time. Its about the equivalent of looking at the website on skills and saying "well this looks or doesn't look OP", or going off hearsay of us players, and we all know in game can work much differently than we expect. It is for these reasons a team of people can be useful to aid sandurr in giving him the experience with the classes he can't obtain with his limited time, making balances hopefully easier to get right the first time. So yes, the suggestion can be very useful. The tricky part is implementation . Appreciate the nice comments and I'll give credit where its due. I probably agree with the mech list basically and 3R on mage, Pwnd on AS. Those are about the extent of people I hear around here a lot. I know vanbibi does a lot of exping for people, so I assume shes played a good amount and acquired experience on a few classes. Think we both were, but in searching for an answer it can get long and extensive no matter what the viewpoints are . davv 2 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 okay, let's clear up a few things. - there is no point in balancing tiers 1-4 right now because tier 5 will change the odds yes, we could just release tier 5 when everything is ready and balanced... but we prefer releasing finished skills one by one because all of you rpt players have waited long enough yes, there will be some overpowered and underpowered things for a while, until everything is ready yes, if you don't like it, you are free to go play on another server, nobody will stop you - there are no plans for creating a tester team as of now. - if any, it will be nominated by the staff - and last but not least : it will consist of experienced pristontale players, not random high level grinders thank you for understanding.
