Could we perhaps get a answer from a mod or anyone?

I think for us priests, it is crusial to know wether vl is or is not usefull at the moment..

I wasn't aware that vl increases damage taken, so i just ran out and did a quick test on ice golems.

has 130abs, no vl. takes around 30-40 damage per hit

with vl. takes 50-60 damage.

so there's definitely something going on.

I think, this discussion is interesting, but not important or final... because the thing of Vl is a 5% of conformation of a PRS.... u forget the naturaly of a Prs... is a set of conformations... u can use or not Vl, but if u dont have a good Items.. good mixes... good lvl... any other strategy will be useless, and the prs no fullfil a positive role in the game. The load will be minimized when u must to go to play importants event´s like sod r8, bless castle or hunt Boss'es....

I have no idea what you're trying to say, but if you think a correctly working VL doesn't matter, I'd question your sanity. 30% extra HP to you and your party is definitely a worthwhile bonus. Out of all the tier 1-4 skills, I'd say it's second only to Extinction, and that's only because Extinction is so God-awfully powerful. Muspell would have an advantage as well, but only against undead and only if there is no party involved.

You're talking about VL, are you not? Last I checked, that was a skill. And yeah, I think that one of the primary skills of a class not working can be considered a big deal. It can be worked around, just like the mage could survive without ES and the mech without PA/MA (which they frequently do), but remove those skills and it will be a big deal anyway.

I agree,

VL is part of the priest class. As soon as VL is useless a part of the priest becomes useless.

This counts for all classes ofcourse..

VL is one of th priests vital skills and if I know the skill as useless i'd probably reconsidered taking this class.

To bad its to late now:P

I've done tests on my own. 40 samples resulted in a minimum and maximum damage taken of exactly 30% higher with VL than without, and an average of 32% higher damage taken. I could calculate standard deviations and confidence intervals too if you'd like, but really, 32% with 40 samples is close enough to 30% with a bit of an error margin for me to be satisfied. Health regeneration, though small, may have made me miss some values by a point sometimes.

Changing the absorb of the character didn't make any difference either. I only did 10 samples there, but min/max was still 30% higher and the average was 27% higher if I remember correctly.

Alright, don't take my word for it. Try it and see for yourself. If you have another explanation for why I'd be getting the results I did, and the results I'm fairly sure you'd be getting if you tried it yourself, I'd be happy to hear it.

This is very interesting but what I would really like to know is what the staff thought of these 'theories'.
