Do you like the breaking/fail mechanic?

I'm curious how many people actually enjoy the fact that your items can break (when aging) or that certain things like crafting can fail despite having gone through the grind to find the mats.

It always came across as a really cheap way to either sell things on the store to prevent said things to happens or artificially increase play time (by forcing to regrind).

It just feels like a design decision from the past (that incidentally S Korea has clung onto because it's still present in games like Black Desert and ArcheAge).

Do you like this in your game?

I do like it. I've crafted 9 relics and failed one only once, also built 4 penta and 2 triadics +2 without failing. Aged an item only once and it broke twice before reaching +24, which is fine for me.

It's a fair system, hard enough but possible to achieve.

Wouldn't you rather have it be balanced so nothing fails (but costs are adjusted)?

No, I believe fail chances are healthy and transforms items in desirable achievements.

To be honest this game evolved so much. Now its actually safer than before. There was a time in Wartale that you dont have access to aging stone and recovery for your items. When it breaks its lost forever. Now is different you can buy aging stones, copper ores, and finally recovering broken items.

Also, aging is part of the game if you take risk you get reward. You can reduce the risk with the said materials but still fun to do. I on the otherhand didnt take too much risk. I only did mine ones and the pressure and stress is too much for me to bare. So I decided to just purchase a +24. Its not impossible to age +24, you just need to find the path on which one works for you. ?

Long ago I broke my item when I tried +16. It hit me so hard emotionally I became scared of aging anything higher than +13.

In life their is a word called success and it is achieved in many ways but the harder the path you choose to reach it  the more you appreciate it in the end.

This is similar to aging your equipment and levelling your character, the harder you grind and gather everything the more you value your item and character.

If your a true gamer you would understand what I just said. If not, it only means you still have a long way to go.

Kind regards and I hope you find peace in life.

I don't want peace. I want problems, always.

I am not saying the fail thing is bad. The fail/break is GOOD. What is BAD is the fact we can recoverer stuff.

As i said many times, it removes the prestige of having a +24 item. Because what's supposed to be the rarest aging level is actually the most common.

I believe you did not understand what he meant. I guess he wanted to say that NOW IS BETTER because we didn't have access to these tools we have today (recover, stones, etc).

So you are suggesting that we should not be able to recover items? I would actually +1 that because I am pro value. Because we can recover items it de valued certain items like copper ore. But saying that people would probably cry more from the broken items and they would probably call out the GM's for making aging only for the rich.

Yes. It's exactly what i am suggesting. And i agree with you, such change would cause stress because people used to old scheme.

In the other hand, every single already highly aged item would spike value from night to day and that would make people happy too, so the change itself includes stressy parts but there are good parts too.

Still i believe such change must be applied slowly. Example: disable age recover for the new Etherborne item set only, and keep old items with recover.

Without recover for new items it would be possible to make drop rate ALOT higher and that would make players really stisfied with new map and new gameplay style.

And with players geting used with new scheme it's possible to disable age recover for 142/144 too without such high stress.

Without mentioning the econimic boost for every single aging-related item... mainly sheltoms.

The belts could come with their own new aging system, something that would not have need on aging stones

from +1 to +12 only, and that the failure would lead to +0, consuming few sheltons/gold, it would have to be something that would require more trys and errors than resources / requiring +luck and less re$ource$, but with low odds from 1 to 4, medium from 5 to 8 and very rare from 9 to 12.

And they could be something "soul linked" the item could not be sold to other players after the first aging (+1)

It would be something that everyone should do to have, and no one would buy from the other, except for materials necessary for such a process, such as sheltons.
