About HUD Mob resistances

Recommended Posts

Lyseria

Hi

Just a question about it, and correct me if I'm wrong.

New Monster Elemental Resistance Icons can now be seen on the HUD! Optimize your play based on the resistance of the monsters you're fighting!

The direction means positive or negative, and the color of arrow means...

White: Low

Green: Medium

Blue: High

Red: Ultra High

I can confirm that "Down Arrow" means "weak against" and "Up Arrow" means "strong against" or "resistant".

I was wondering the same about the colors as well.

I have never seen blue color though.

I would like this system to be implemented also in the advanced data of guide map, complementing the HP and EXP information.

this is something that is self-explanatory, but here is the explanation:

  • No arrow: nonexistent or irrelevant amount of resistance negative or positive;
  • White arrow UP: Small positive resistance;
  • Green arrow UP: Average positive resistance;
  • Cyan arrow UP: High positive resistance;
  • White arrow DOWN: Small negative resistance;
  • Red arrow DOWN: Average negative resistance;
  • Pink arrow DOWN: High negative resistance.

The hover interface would not even fit inside the screen ?

The colors don't feel intuitive to me.

I'd suggest to either adjust the colors or add a small text stating the value.

The value could be a precise number or just "high" / "medium" and etc..

Intuitive colors in my opinion:

White = neutral (not negative nor positive).

Yellow = Above neutral

Green = High

Orange = Below neutral

Red = Low

I think just a precise number would be the best.

White will be "0", and any number, positive or negative will be written in its correct color.

Example:

+60 (green)

+30 (yellow)

0 (white)

-30 (orange)

-60(red)

Most monsters have small resistance values, the reason why the small resistance is white is because we didn't want this piece of HUD to be too distracting to the eyes, or the elemental HUD would turn into a rainbow.

Ok, I understand you..

But honestly, I believe most people did not understand it at first because it's not intuitive.

IDK how many people will see my previous comment but I am pretty sure that the people who actually change their playstyle according to the resistances will agree with me.

For example, on my Mgs I change to Stone Spike from Flame Wave vs certain mobs just to be extra efficient.

Sometimes I change from Stone Spike to Flame Wave because the monster has negative resistance.

I hope you will give this topic another thought ?

Thanks for the info ❤️

I must disagree about the self explanatory thing, cuz the colors of arrows is qui_te interpretative.

Oi
