DeadlyWarrior

When i came to WT 3 years ago this game was so amazing. Maps Full BC Full, it was pure fun. But now - its another game. I don't know what's the plan now to make WT great again, but something should happen.

The game is better than it was 3 years ago, it's the people (us) who have changed. The same applies to all other great games which have fallen out of favor. It's just the way of life man, unless you can now attracts a new and younger user base, which is almost impossible given how much the game industry has progressed.

Everyone have a different definition of "better". Indeed they put much effort to improve the game infrastructure, and the game made good improvements i agree. but what i also see is that the game was 3 years ago much more alive then nowday

maybe its true that the people (us) who have changed. but why have we changed? I can't give you a clear answer at this point. but what I can guarantee you, however, is that this matter cannot be viewed one-sidedly and that the cause should be sought only in the players ("the players changed"). The system in which the players "find themselves" also plays a big role. Both points of view, players and system, are interrelated, there is an interaction.

Sure, I'm not saying "players have changed" is the only reason. Yet most of the things that can be objectively measured point toward Wartale being a better server than it was 3 years ago: many more features, more balance between classes, more activities (professions), even more responsive staff (Overlady has been very active on forums lately and many changes are according to players' suggestions).

Now the subjective feeling towards the game, or the interaction between players and the system as you put it, is not something you can actually control. That's why I said many great games are losing players no matter how hard developers are trying. One example is Dota 2 versus LoL, Dota 2 is much more complex and rewarding as you progress (and still has the largest prize pools in the history of gaming) but unfriendly to newcomers; as a result, LoL attracts a much larger and younger gamer base than Dota 2. You can't ask Dota 2 to become simpler or go back to the old days full of bugs and imbalanced heroes and hope it would attract more players.

I've seen many private servers of this game that try to recreate the old feelings (hardcore exp, hard drops, low level maps and items) and most of them fail miserably or could never compete with Wartale. The truth is, this game is old, really old. What we miss is the time when we first had our online interactions with strangers, met our first online friends and did awesome things together. Those days are forever gone and we keep playing hoping it would come back but it never will. We are now overwhelmed by the internet and social medias, we are too lazy to chat to anyone when we're in game, the greatest feature that any MMORPG could offer. That's why I usually tell people, if you really feel like this game is going down, just play playing for a few months. At some point you'll miss it (the nostalgia) and want to come back ?

I think what we are seeing in this unique community, people who have played this game for years are retiring and not enough new players are replacing the players who are leaving.  Because this game is so unique its hard to get new players to join the game.  Thats why its so important to retain current players and to also motivate current players to invite other friends to this game.

Because i don't think wartale does any type of marketing of this game, its mainly word of mouth.
