Socket System Reworked

 

Shard

Alchemy Mastery, Yoric will be getting new craft recipe’s so that you can transmute three Shards of the same color into any other Shard. Reasoning behind this is to reduce the disparity in Shard values.

 

 

The value of the currently most valuable Shards is expected to fall, making them more affordable, while increasing the market value of the currently less desirable Shards.

 

 

Gems

The craft recipe’s of Gems are going to be altered, resulting in a new production cost curve of the Shards that are required. By using fewer Shards for Triangular and Square Gem creation, we can make them more accessible to players who do not have a lot of Gold to invest.

 

 

Consequently, the change also makes inserting Triangle and Square Gems into an item less financially punishing if the player decides to replace them in the future.

 

 

  Iron Drill

The Iron Drill production costs will reduce by about 60%. Additionally, the Iron Drill’s chance of producing a Prismatic Socket will increase, but it will remain the same for colored Drills. This is a first step toward making the Iron Drill more eplayable in comparison to colored Drills.

 

Socket Filler

We want using an Iron Drill to be less expensive, so the cost of producing a Socket Filler will be decreased in the same proportion as the Iron Drill.

 

Gem Extractor becomes Remover

The Gem Extractor will be reworked as "Gem Remover". Meaning the Gem will be destroyed after use instead of returning to your inventory. The Socket will remain open for another Gem to be inserted as usual. The crafts costs are reduced by around 40%, but it is still more expensive than the Socket Filler.

In the long run, Gem extraction became problematic because it was cheaper than producing a new Square or Pentagonal Gem, resulting in only the strongest Gems being extracted and those who didn't have them being forced to use the Socket Filler or buy a brand new and expensive Gem.

The change to the Gem Extractor also guarantees the trade of Shards for miners, ensuring that despite the reduction in materials needed in this balance, the Shards will always be useful.

 

Extended Sockets

The Extender Drill craft will be removed, it’s going to be exclusive to Luminous Cavern and future new content.

Extender Drill will no longer required for crafting Extended Socket Filler and Extended Gem Remover, those craft recipes now more closely match common Sockets.
