Returning Player: Pike vs Mage vs Other Classes

I think I'm asking a similar question as the post next door but anyways. I'm a return player who played on the official server back in 2003/2004. I mained a 8x mage back in the days and got bored and started playing pike. Eventually got it to 9x and stopped. I played in several private servers after the official server was shut down and pretty much only played Pikeman. The reason was that Pike was the easiest class to level up fast (when mana is not an issue) and at the same time, have decent skills for hunting. I never got into PVP much but it was fun to play from time to time. 

 

When I signed up for wartale, I was amazed that I still had an account and there are 2 chars in this account. a 8x pike and a 12x mage with a lot of gold....

 

My questions are:

1. are Pikeman no good now with the new skills and gears? I don't see many top level Pike on the ranking. If they are much harder to level now I probably don't want to continue to play them. 
2. how long would it take to train a char from lvl 1 - 130? Are we talking about 50 hours of playing or 500? This will determine if I want to give up my mage or start something new. I'm fairly experienced and know how to train a char 
3. if I'm starting something brand new, which char (other than mage or pike) is the most fun to play these days? I see a lot of top level mech, archers and atas on the ranking board. Are these the way to go? I enjoy SOD, hunting and hardcore training.

I myself am a new player on Wartale and have been playing pikeman since day one and it's definitely not easy to level up. The struggle really begins around level 110. You won't be able to do daily quests by yourself since the character has pretty much no way to tank those maps, even if you are extremely well equipped. So far my character is level 111 with okish gear since it's hard to find other players selling items around this level. I end up relying on doing moon hunter over and over again, or hoping that someone takes me in in their party so i can finish my dailies. Overall, if you want something easier and not so stressful, you should probably go with mage. However, if you really love pikeman, give it a go and see how you like it.

Q1: 

Pike super strong. But which part you wana talk about, if it's leveling 8x to 12x, obviously other classes better, which are Ks, Mg, Ms, etc. Because have tank skills to stand in Hellspawn with cheaper mixed items.

If you use pike, use 'Window Mode' in Setting. Open 2 game windows, one is pike, one is another tank. Tank = ms, ks, prs. Put tank with all Health Points. Pike and Tank stay together in Hellspawn. Or Prs flying Regen somewhere hiding or behind your pike. Depends how you wana set-up. 2 chars is the easiest and fastest to go. Make your life so much easier.

3 chars are better, with Shaman standing behind your Pike to boost attack speed. That makes you level up 15% faster, because 15% faster attack speed.

 

Q2:

Depends how you level. Depends on how to level up. Just play what you like. 

 

Q3:

Ranking does not indicate PvE. Ranking does not indicate fun. You find your own PvE and fun. If you worried which class to play. Play them all. Choose 6 different Classes. Party them all up. Go Atlantis buy Union core to teleport to your Main char. This is the best grind for non-donators, and you say you enjoy 'hardcore training', 6 chars together training is the way to go for hardcore.

For me, pikeman is not so good in grinding. priest shaman and mage is good in leveling from lvl 1 to 130. This 3 class also good in SOD.
