It depends on your build , Im a "defense" build and Im using a blaze shield beacuse of it's high def/block

At the moment, its would be wiser to use a shield,  preferably blaze shield as/ata,  because of the high block and abs.

From lvl 105/110 i would suggest to use a orb, cause if you age it you will have a lot more def/abs and about the same % as a blaze shield

Synthetic shields needs too much str IMO

blaze shield is the highest i would go for

blaze shield is about the str you need for high lvl gaunts/boots etc

IMO its a waste of points

PRS arent supposed to be the maintanker and with a nice aged orb and decent stuff you can survive pretty well, so you can put more points in WP (for more dmg) or just some HP (better surviving at all)

I preffer orbs. Even lower lvl. 'Cause I use base agi, str for wand/staff, high spirit and 150 health. Atmm I'm 86 and got like 150 health and 241 spirit. I can survive quite well and got a descent dmg, and I preffer high hp than def on low lvl (b4 110).

I'm not playing PRS, MAGE, but I already plaid with both of them. I think the orb is better, but maybe that's not the case on this server.. I'll try with my PRS mate char.

A high aged orb is surely better than a high aged shield.

Just a +10 salamander beads is better than blaze+10~+12, any high lvl mixed (str too high, put it on wp or vit) etc etc.......mix on shield, now, is waste .....test it in Wartale.

Beside u have couple misstakes in ur calc like...

oracle wand prs spec has min str req of 53

That no prs would go for ur stated set when using orb or that the avernus aging calc is wrong...

 

I guess it might be not a comon build to say u have best set, best mixes and whatever.

 

And on rpt u get more with high spirit as in other pt's. Its not like upt, where u dont feel a diff with 50 spirit more or not.

And phoenix set is around 8x str and u forgett about agi - u also have to add for higher sets.

 

Ya I had perf phoenix set with best sapphier mix on upt... cos it was there more important to reach high abs + muspell 10 to get healed in xp maps by undeads an never use hp pots, just spamm cl, but a weak cl...

 

I dont really want to say orb or shield is better... most prs go for a leech build here anyway, doesnt matter if orb and alot health or shield with alot str and some health.

As I said, its based off the Item list that is in game with max listed Str.

Obviously AS/ATA shield will be less then 130str, same for wand, boots, gag, arm with spec.

 

And calculations are right , 10% def added each age, 20 times. with perfect Def Avernus Beads.

It will be around 1200 Def, of base 180 Def.

 

go do, 180 + 10%+ 10% +10%, and so on, do that 20 times, comes to 1200 Def rate.

 

And that is if you never fail +1 - +20.

 

Benefit with shield is higher then orb.

 

Especially for leveling/soloing/sod.
