About [Defense] and [Block]

I've been puzzled by this for awhile. The action [block] and [Defense] have appears often, but have i no idea what they mean.

 

From what i think. Block seems to reduce a portion of dmg, i'm not sure how much, and how to calculate this. Is it a fix percentage? Like 25% each time you block for example.

And Defense seems to be happen when you receive 0 dmg from an attack. The question is, does this appear everytime the monster hit you, but their attack is lower than your abs, s o you receive 0 dmg. Or is it that normally, you would receive dmg, let say 100, but when defense happens, you receive 0 from the attack of the same monster?

  Nope, both block and defense reduce income damage to 0, only difference is defense correspond to enemy's attack rating while

block is fix value of probability (ex: 30% =>  30% miss). In some RPG there have a different mechanism for blocking as u think

(it contradict to critical (increase deal damage dramatically) (ex: x2 deal dam)-><- Block (reduce income damage dramatically) (ex: reduce income dame 50%)) but not in this game.

So defense come from self defense rating vs enemy's attack rating ? Is there a known formula for calculating the rate of defense ?

And Block is like counter critical ?

Defense, Block and Evade, they all reduce incoming damage to 0. It voids the damage. They're calculated at % based - If you have 30% block, a random number is generated from 1 to 100 - if the random generated number  is between 1 and 30, you will reduce the damage to zero. The same goes for Evade and Defense.

 

 

Defense % is calculated with the target Attack Rating.

 

I know the RPT Defense formula, but I don't know if Wartale would let me sharing it.

 

Critical doesn't have NOTHING related to Block, Defense or Evade. Critical increases your damage by 70%, before final damage multipliers.

 

Ex:

 

If you do 100 damage against Undead as Knight, if it's critical, it will do 170 damage.

 

If you happens to have Undead Bane at level 10, it will increase 20% of 170 (because it's a final damage multiplier) , resulting in 204 damage.

 

 

Also, if your critical hit is defended, blocked or evaded, it will do zero damage.
