DarkLink64 921 Posted September 10, 2015 As the title says, Sol Velocity or Fortitude? Velocity adds HP(+40) Abs(+6.2) Spd(+6) Fortitude adds HP(+70) MP(+80) Spd(+3.4) In this case, it's for my Knight. I don't care about speed, so, its all goes down to HP. I've always questioned myself what would be the better mix. In my opinion, higher HP is better for tanking strong burst of damage, like, single hit that deals extremely high damage, for example: Pike Charged Strike, Atalanta Split Javelin, Fighter's Destroyer. In the other way around, I believe that ABS is better at tanking multiple but weaker hits, since it's substract the damage by the value itself and is calculated everytime you receive a hit. My theory is: Velocity adds 40 HP + 6.2 ABS, in case of my HP is full and i receive a hit, virtually it would work as a 46 extra HP. If I can take 2 hits, it already goes up to extra 52 HP, since both hits will reduce 6 of damage. So, to be better than Fortitude, i would need to tank 5 hits, since 6 extra HP per hit x 5 hits = 30. For Exp maps extra ABS is way better, since I can tank much more than 6 hits. But, my Knight will be focused on PvP/Hunting. So, all points out that extra 30 HP is better than extra 6 ABS, considering that ABS really work as: HP damage - ABS. Also, higher HP does mean that Priestess VL would give even more HP, since 30% of 40 is extra 12 HP, and 30% of 70 is extra 21 HP. Also, I believe that Knight's Godly Shield adds flat damage reduction, instead of boosting our ABS. So, extra ABS doesn't make Godly Shield more effective. So, do you guys agree that Fortitude mix is better for PvP? Or my theory is wrong? Let's discuss!
nicer 67 Posted September 10, 2015 6.2 abs equals 602 def missing 2.6 speed and 602 def for 30 extra hp and 80 extra mp isn't good at all imo. but I'm not an experienced player in pvp at all, so I'll let the others speak
DarkLink64 921 Posted September 10, 2015 6.2 ABS is not 602 defense. But, 602 defense is 6 ABS. I can have 10 ABS, it will not give me 1000 defense points. My chance of defending a hit will not raise. The point is: Being the best effective tanking option. At PvP / Hunting, we hardly can tank more 2~3 hits if they're criticals, so I believe a higher HP is better than 6 ABS.
nicer 67 Posted September 11, 2015 mmm, so how does Defense works? From what I've seen, even if you have 5000 defense but 30 abs you take a lot of damage.
Aura 0 Posted September 11, 2015 As knight you will benefit more from 6 abs than 30hp. Speed is irrelevant in this case, since you're a knight. As you progress and get better items you are going to tank far better than now. Even at BC, as a knight you can't stack HP, your main asset is shield tank, which means more abs and def > HP. DarkLink64 921 Posted September 12, 2015 mmm, so how does Defense works? From what I've seen, even if you have 5000 defense but 30 abs you take a lot of damage. Defense is calculated with enemy Attack Rating. If Attack Rating is equal or higher than your defense, there is 100% chance of landing the hit. If its lower, you have a chance to defend, canceling all the damage. The chance is based on the difference between def and atr, the higher the difference, the higher chance you have from defending a hit. Additionally, each 100 points of defense adds 1 ABS. Thanks for clarifying. How about block? If the damage is not cancelled, does the formula check for block chance before applying the abs formula?
DarkLink64 921 Posted September 12, 2015 Block, Defense and Evade, they all negate enemy attacks. The only exception are AoE attacks, they never miss. I believe that each parameter is calculated individually, and goes as it follows: Evade > Block > Defense. For example, if you have 50% evade, 50% block and a 50% chance of defendind, what happens is: Random number is generated from 0 to 100. If its between 0.1~50 range, the hit gets evaded. If not, it happens again, another number is generated, if its between 0.1~50, the hit gets blocked. If not, then, anothert number is randomly generated, if its between 0.1~50, the hit gets defended, if not, you take the damage. So, they dont stack. Its not "150%" chance of getting any incomming damage blocked, evaded or defended. Instead, its a 87,5% chance of blocking or evading or defending. Its not 100% garanteed that it works like this, but, i strongly believe it works.
nicer 67 Posted September 12, 2015 Pretty sure it's not RNG. Might be PRNG (pseudo random number generator) where it starts with a really low chance and increases as things happen. Taking evasion as example, let's say you start with a 2% chance, and it increases as you are attacked and you didn't evade the hit; Resets back to 2% after you evade the hit.
