[Help] Skin Replacements

Hello, I was wondering if it was at all still possible to replace weapon models with your own weapon models from another game such as Skyrim or World of Warcraft. I came across another thread in this subsection that seemed to have done it (http://thronum.com/forum/index.php?topic=137434.15), but when I replace the weapon model in my folder with the one I want to use, it comes up as invisible in-game. I have downloaded the weapon model from the ePT forums. The model seemed to be already converted for use in PT as it is a .smd file.
