pleiades 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2010 On the Priestess tier 3 skills page on rPT, the Vigor Bolt is described as follows: "Vigor Ball: Launches two glowing spheres of powerful energy against a single target. Every cast makes 2 hits." I want to verify that I'm interpreting the formula correctly and if I am, then there is no reason for using multi-spark, and there is no reason to go beyond VB level 1. The table at the bottom shows why. In the formula and stats table, the column that lists the damage is labeled: "Vigor Ball Damage x 2", and the formula for skill level 1 is: 30 (+Spirit x 2 +Min Wand Dmg x 2) - 55 (+Spirit x 2 +Max Wand Dmg x 2). Using that formula, a generic formula is as follows: Minimum VB Damage per bolt =VB minimum add factor for level + (spirit x 2 + minimum wand damage x 2) Maximum VB Damage per bolt =VB maximum add factor for level + (spirit x 2 + maximum wand damage x 2) Where "VB minimum add factor for level" is 30, 34, etc based upon the skill level and the "VB maximum add factor for level" is similar, but for level 1, 55, 59, 63, .. So, the first question is: is this formula the damage per bolt or the total damage for both bolts? The label "Vigor Ball Damage x 2" is what confuses me. An examination of the formula suggests that this is a per bolt damage formula since only certain components are "x2", but not the "add factor". If the formula calculates the damage per bolt, then the following table outlines the damage for the skill cast, with a couple assumptions: 1. SPR = 300 (modust amount for a lvl 95 PRS) 2. Perfect Wyvern Wand with Min dmg of 30 and max dmg of 39 with a cheap devine mix adding 8 to the min and max. Therefore, min wand damage is 38 and the max wand damage is 47. If this table is correct, a couple comments. 1. Vigor Bolt is superior to multi-spark, even if 1.5 multisparks can be cast in the time 1 VB can be cast. 2. Use VB as the main single monster killing skill, but don't add skill points into it - just use them for something else, and don't waste your time with multispark. | Skill | VB minimum | VB maximum | VB min | VB max | VB min | VB max | Level | add factor | add factor | dmg per bolt | dmg per bolt | dmg | dmg | 1 | 30 | 55 | 706 | 749 | 1412 | 1498 | 2 | 34 | 59 | 710 | 753 | 1420 | 1506 | 3 | 38 | 63 | 714 | 757 | 1428 | 1514 | 4 | 42 | 67 | 718 | 761 | 1436 | 1522 | 5 | 46 | 71 | 722 | 765 | 1444 | 1530 | 6 | 50 | 75 | 726 | 769 | 1452 | 1538 | 7 | 54 | 79 | 730 | 773 | 1460 | 1546 | 8 | 58 | 83 | 734 | 777 | 1468 | 1554 | 9 | 62 | 87 | 738 | 781 | 1476 | 1562 | 10 | 66 | 91 | 742 | 785 | 1484 | 1570
Akira 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2010 For Sure, one thing is right: the difference between the skill VB level 1 and 10 is minimal, almost insensitive. 9 SP points wasted. And yes, VB>MS
lummel 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2010 Yeh I agree, better keep it lvl 1 for lower stm and mp costs aswel. And I'm pretty sure its the damage for 1 bolt.
pleiades 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2010 thanks for your confirmation. after playing prs for a few weeks, experience demonstrates VB lvl 1 is best way to go.
mai801chan 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 I'm 90 and my SPR is around 170. LOL! So VB isn't my ideal cast (health + def build). But I do notice that my CL 10 yields almost readily more dmg than MS 10 which feels rather weird. Maybe when I switched to SPR build, I would test out VB, its animation delay bothers me though.
