Mage build

Mage builds haven't really changed so you can probably find builds throughout this forum.

Stats

Str - Enough for gear

Spir - The rest

Tal - Enough for gear

Agi - Enough for gear

Health - Base or you can put in 50-100 points... Everyone's different on this.

Keep in mind you can reset stats and skills for free up until level 100. So if you want some more health or need to put in extra strength / agility for an unspec’d item, than you can always reset your stats later. You can reset stats and skills past level 100 as well it just costs gold.

Aim for current level gear and always aim for MGS specced gear. This will lower strength/agility stats of the gear so you don't need to waste as many points on them.

Use an orb over a shield... Staff does more damage but you can't really tank with a staff so you'll likely use a wand like the level 104 oracle wand + orb for quite a while.

Get some crystals and go to Mystery Forest (outside of Atlantis) and you can level up really quick. Check the quest guide on the website and do all those quests, they give a lot of gold/exp when starting out and later they give extra stat points, gear and stuff that is really important. As crystals do most of your early leveling, order of skills isn't a big deal.

Tier 1-3 skills:

Three key skills to level

Spirit Elemental 10

Energy Shield (5-10)... It's sort of buggy and uses more mana than it should, if you have mana issues then keep it lower, if you're dying a lot you can raise it

Mental Mastery 10

Enchant Weapon 10 (Personally I’d level this next for extra damage, but now that forces work for mages, you can save these 10 points for later and use a decent force… Buy an infera for 450-500k and make it into a force, it will give you a massive damage boost at a low level)

Diastrophism (I personally leveled this to 10 and used it for quite a while. It gives a large AoE around you and makes mobs flinch, so reduces damage you take… Stone spike isn’t great until it’s level 10 so I used this and meteorite until stone spike was 10 then put these points into something else)

Tier 4 skills:

Meteorite 10 (Main offensive skill especially when in a party and you can stand back and spam it)

Fire Elemental 10 (Can help you tank)

Tier 5 Skills:

Stone Spike 10 (High damage but short range AoE – doesn’t cause flinch but you can replace Diastrophism with it and often use this instead of Meteorite)

Magic Source 10

Once you get Stone Spike to level 10 I would suggest resetting your skills for a more final build.

For EXPing

Tier 1-3:

Spirit Elemental 10

Energy Shield (4/5-10)

Mental Mastery 10

Enchant Weapon 10

*Dancing Sword 10 (1v1 damage but still adds a bit in PvE/mini bosses)

*Zenith 10

*Are not critical, they are just something to put extra points into over time

Tier 4:

Meteorite 10

Fire Elemental 10

*Distortion 10 (not really needed for exping more for PVP/hunt)

Tier 5:

Stone Spike 10

Magic Source 10

*Amplify 10 (boosts final damage only on 1v1 skills so not important for exping)

I did this off the top of my head so I'm sorry if I missed anything.

Here’s another guide but I’d be careful with some of his suggestions.

Agony may have been useful in the past, but HP/SP/MP pots drop a ton so you don’t need to worry about wasting mana pots thus Agony would be wasted skill points.

Guys, these days a mage's build [with spirit only for items (good wand/robe) and the rest on vitality] is good only for pvp or is it for exping too?

From my experience when my display damage (in C panel) changed at about 20 (from oredo force to sapp force) the final damage on mob at IC change at around 200 and mob at SL change at around 20
