zohnay 2 Report post Posted March 1, 2017 LURING GUIDE FOR DIQ The main goal as a lure is to always have that mob density, at and around the tanker. This way the killers will be doing lots of damage to lots of mobs instead of just a few mobs. First lets go over the different spawns at the so called "HS2" in Death Island --The number inside the blue circle and number indicates the number of mobs are typically spawned at a time there. 1. "The Castle" 2. Spawn 2 3. Spawn 3 4. Spawn 4 5. Spawn 5 ***Don't try to lure mobs past the red line (they won't make it to the tank)*** 6. Spawn 6 --NOTE: Ever since Patch 4098, there are new invisible walls throughout HS2 so do you best to run around until the mob runs towards you. I will do my best to mark these "walls" in red in the following pictures --GREEN arrows indicate my preferred path of luring. Ok now lets start with the spawn inside the "castle." --Tip: Do your best to keep mobs away from the pillar in the middle of the castle, as it will block the mobs from being lured to you. --Tip: Try and stay close the wall, to avoid that dreaded invisible wall... --I'm running to the red line (or the invisible wall) so that all the mobs will go through the door. --Now, we're headed out the same way we came in. At this point, I like to press 'R' to walk out of the castle. After Patch 4098 the mobs run in all sorts of different directions, so just be patient. --Tip: Walk (and stop) to make sure the mobs from the castle and newly spawned mobs are following you. Another reason for walking: so mobs won't be lured to the (range) killers. This way, you'll be able to lure directly to the tank. Once you have lured the castle mobs to the tank, look and run around to try and spot any mobs from Spawns 4, 5, and 6. If there are (which there should be), lure them to the tank like this: --When I lure, I do my best to avoid luring mobs into the branches or the cannon. If it happens, occasionally they'll get stuck. To solve this problem, see Tips (at bottom of post. And now, moving onto Spawns 2 and 3: Lure this mob (from Spawn 2) and head towards Spawn 3 --If you walk into Spawn 3 and stop at about this point, 2 mobs should be lured towards you (+1 the one mob from spawn 2). This should be sufficient enough and then its time to head back to the tanker. Now, you should be back at the tank. At this point, it's likely that mobs from Spawns 4, 5, and 6 have respawned... ....so.... GO BACK TO THOSE SPAWNS AND LURE THEM BACK TO THE TANKER LIKE I TAUGHT YOU!!! Finally, you've lured all the mobs you can see (outside the castle) to the tank, its time to repeat the process...BACK TO THE CASTLE. ----------More Helpful Tips---------- 1. It's cheaper to lure than it is to be a killer (less dying, less pots) 2. Avoid the invisible walls I (attempted) to mark for you 3. Walk and occasionally run (instead of ONLY running) when luring. This way, mobs will continue to follow you and it'll be easier to keep mobs away from the range killers in your party. 4. Lure to the tanker, not to the killers. 5. Lure all mobs outside castle before going into the castle. 6. When luring, try and keep your distance (but close enough that they run to you) from the mob... you know, less potions the better, right? 7.WHAT TO DO IF A MOB IS STUCK, THEN RUNS AWAY, THEN DOESN'T FOLLOW YOU WHEN YOU GET CLOSE: Let the mob attack you once or twice, then run away (towards the tank). The mob should go back to following you. 8. Mechs......don't use comp. Just don't. 9. Mobs can only run a certain distance away from their spawn. Once they do hit this limit, they will turn away and run back. 10. After Patch 4098, mobs can run through certain walls so....yeah. 11. If there aren't a lot of mobs around the tanker and killers, go to Spawns 4, 5, and 6, and lure something. 12. If a mob does get stuck at any wall or obstruction, run in different directions and the mob might get free, if not see Tip 13. This spawn (next to Spawn 2) is optional: ----------------------it's optional to me because i don't like wasting time on this mob since it's behind that wall. 14. If you're asked to lure (because you're low level, or you're a weaker class), don't get offended...luring is one of the most important aspects of getting a fast Q. 15. If Boss Avelin Spawns, FIRST: lure all the zombie mobs to the tank. THEN: try your best to lure it as close as you can to the tank, then either -Have an ATA or AS lure it with their pet or -Have the leader of the PT pick up the box and move it to Avelin (then of course moving the box back after Avelin Dies) 16. Of course, this isn't a "set in stone" way to lure. It's my way, and it's what I do. There will be times where you'll have to improvise, such as when a killer DC's or the tank DC's or when it's approaching the end of a Q or when Boss Avelin Spawns, etc. ....Now if someone could make a guide on "How to Tank DIQ" because..... :-X :-X :-X :-X UPDATE 10 March 2017 (after patch 4099): Mobs are running more smoothly after the recent patch. The walls that I mentioned are no longer there. With that being said, stick the plan of luring all the mobs outside the castle before going inside the castle and luring.
