Mage Skills - Some insight?

Heyo.

 

My alt is a mage and I've been wondering, because of the altered skills on the server, which are worth maxing, and which I should leave alone.

 

Now on ePT, the general is pretty much:

 

Agony

ES 7

SE 10

Dia 1/10 - Prefered 1 on ePT, cause it has delay there.

ES 4/7/10

Meteor 10

DR 10 - Hunting possibilities etc.

And FW & Distortion are usually a PvE/PvP choice.

 

My build onwtso far (Bearing in mind, i'm only lv85 atm):

 

SE 10

ES 6

Dia 10 - I noticed lv10 has no delay on this server, which is awesome ;]

FW - 3 - I did this because it seemed like a better choice than DR for a quick spammable skill, and Im not too sure about FE & Distort.

Meteor 8 - Will be 10 ofcourse. :]

 

(I do have spare Skill Points, just wondering if I should add them to ES or DR)

 

However, I want to get some opinions on a suitable build for this server, because I know some skills work differently than they do on official

 

For instance, I know Agony is a waste seeing as Mana Pots are so easy to get, so I've left that alone.

But I have noticed FW has no delay at all, which seems fairly mazing, so would it be a better idea to level FW instead of DR.

 

With the release of new maps and items since I've been gone, gameplay at higher levels has transformed from what I've noticed, so some skills are more helpful than they used to be, this has gotten me thinking is Distortion now a must-have for higher-level Mass Killing?

Also - I noticed Elemental is actually useful on this server, is there a desire to have it at lv10? Is it decent for the higher maps, ET and above etc?

 

And last but not least, ES - There's been debate on it for years over which is the best to have it vs HP formulas and block %'s. But what's it like on this server? Is it a common thing to aim for lv10 ES?

I'm not an expert, but there are some things i know for sure:

 

You're right! atm, fw is the best spam. If i were you, i'd put it on level ten.

 

Another point: a thing i did and don't feel any regret, is to invest in mind mastery in combination with energy shield. As you use energy shield, you'll spend more mana points. to compensate that, you spent points on mind mastery. The actual effetc is that your mana goes down slowly.

 

I do'nt use diastrophism at all. It's up to lazy guys...  :P

 

They are planning and trying to bring a 5th tier, with new skills (check skills session on http://www.realmpt.com). In the mage's one, there's a skill that increases 1 vs 1 skills. As far as i know, the only skill that will be affectedfor that is death ray, so, in terms of calculation, it will worth more than flame wave. ( IMO it's not thaaaat good)

 

so is it.

 

Maybe there are concerns on equipment, but i don't have knowledge on this.

 

Hope tips work for ya. My mage is in a level close to yours, so it's valid for your character.

I got a mage lvl 118 and my PVE spec is:

 

Zenith: lvl 10 (dunno why I took it but I feel that my mage is a stronger tank with it)

Mental Mastery: lvl 10 (a must be)

Energy Shield: lvl 10

Dias: lvl 10 (since no delay it pew pew, and I'm a lazy mage ^^)

Spirit Elemental: lvl 10

Meteorite: lvl 10

Distortion: lvl 10

Flame Wave: lvl 9

 

With this build I have decent gear with 106 gloves, brac, boots, 115 robe, wand and a shield(gonna change to orb as soon I get a good one)

I have no statpoints on hp and all on spirit (str,agi,tal I have just what i need to wear the items)

Got like 560 points in spirit and that gives me a total with my items of 3500 mana :)

 

Mage t5 looks good and we will even more mana then +50% if that skill is lvl10 ^^

atm i have a mgs 125

and my PVE skills its just like -

 

T1 ~3

 

ES - 7

Dias - 10

SE - 10

MM - 10

Zenith - 10

 

Now t4.

 

Meteorite - 10

Flame Wave - 10

Distortion - 10

Fire Elemental  - 10

 

Now about my stats, i just put it all in Spr, ofc Str for set, Talent for stafs and wands, Agility for set, Healt depends of what i want to do, if i want to up i'll put it all in Spr, if i want to go hunt in ET3 HS, ofc to tank there i just need to put like 200 in Health. taking it off, always Full spr.

Actually i dunno, but i wonder if other skills also works:

 

- enchant weapon

- force orbs (not a skill but i think it doesn't work)

 

After 3160, it  is said that the skill will correctly add magic damage as it is an force orb (if i got the point correctly).

 

In order to test how it would be, i tried using the force orb, but i realized it didn't change anything on my skills, even with DR, the so called 1 on 1 skill.

 

So i need to bring up the point:

 

Are forces working?

 

Will enchant weaon really work adding magic dmg?

 

ok if it works, how the formula is calculated.

 

 

on xmas event i used bellum force, but when it ended, i felt no difference.

 

IMHO i think it's not working. Anybody else have tried it?

for me its kind of diferent, Forces work on me ;P

 

btw, enchant weapon its working, i guess, i use it but never felt a big diference.
