Do ppl really got ban for fake report?

TBH ive been playing since June 2010 and touch wood nothing happen so far like lost item. Are there really so many cases on lost item especially after patch update? Do those report faker actually get ban on this? If not then i shud also make fake report on trying my luck since nothing will eventually happen on this. (assuming report faker not being penalised.
