Technical Board - The place where you learn to troubleshoot common error issues:

 

So, you have installed Wartale but your client will not launch, or you experience other problems? No worries, here is a list of common troubles and a basic troubleshooting guide.

 

Launcher errors – Errors that can occur when you launch the game:

 

Failed loading the game:

Something is preventing the launcher from running. This can be caused by several things; here are some of the main things with belonging solutions:

• Your antivirus is blocking Wartale – Add Wartale to the ignore list on your antivirus
• Your firewall is blocking Wartale – Add Wartale to the exceptions list
• Wartale does not have permission to run – Run the launcher as administrator
• Your drivers are not up to date – Update your drivers
• Try running with different service packs
• Update windows
• Press F1 while you launch Wartale, doing this will reset your in-game settings back to the default
• Re-download and reinstall the game

 

Failed loading the game settings:

Wartale was not closed properly, and therefore the settings couldnt be saved correctly.

Solutions: Delete this file: ...\Wartale-Full\savedata\settings.dat or press F1 immediately after you launched the game, to reset the game settings.

 

Connection/game errors – Error that can occur when you play Wartale:

 

Disconnection (DC aka Game.exe):

This error occurs when Wartale is experiencing a sudden event on the computer, which affects the game adversely. This can be caused by several things; here are some of the main things:

• You are running to many programs – Wartale does not have enough RAM to run
• Your Computer (processor) is too busy
• Your computer is infected by spyware/virus – Scan your computer

 

Solutions: Try to limit the number of programs you have running while you play, run a weekly virus scan, run a defragmentation and run a registration cleaner.

 

Disconnection (DC1):

This error occurs because of a slow connection. This can be caused by several things; here are some of the main things:

• You download stuff in the background
• Your ISP

 

Solutions: Don’t download while you play, call you ISP and ask them why your connection is slow (maybe they are undergoing maintenance) and reboot your router.

 

Disconnection (DC2):

This error occurs when you lose connection completely.

 

Solutions: Reboot your router and call your ISP.

 

Disconnection general:

You can also experience disconnections/reconnections because, we are working on the server, or because our host is having some technical issues, which can lower our server’s stability and speed.

 

If you experience many game crashes or DCs (Disconnect with Server) errors, you can very easily reduce these errors by lowering your in-game graphics (Resolution, Graphic Details etc.); you can change them in the settings which its shortcut is F10. Play around with the game settings until you experience the best gameplay!

If, after following the steps, your issue is not resolved:

No troubleshooting guide can completely cover all problems you will encounter. If, after following the steps, your matter is not resolved, create a topic about it, and provide the following information, to make your troubleshooting process easier and faster:

 

Purely technical details:

• Game ID and character name
• Operating system (OS) – Include bit version and service package
• Hardware – CPU, RAM and graphic card

 

Your problem:

• What happens? – Make a detailed description of the error/event
• When does it happen? – Is it in a certain period or is it always
• Take screenshots, to make your explanation more clear

How do I take screenshots?

 

Here in Wartale we have an integrated screenshot function, it helps you to take screenshots much easier and better. There are two ways of taking a screenshot, and both have their own function:

 

CTRL+END: Takes a screenshot without HUD

- This option is recommended for pleasurable screenshots, for instance they're used in Picture of the Week!

 

CTRL+HOME: Takes a normal screenshot with time, date, server name and character name

- This option is required for report cases related with screenshots

- NB.: Cases without stamps will get denied, thus you must use this function for cases related with screenshots

 

Where are my screenshots?

 

They are rather easy to find; they should be placed in this folder: …/Wartale/save/screenshots/

 

How do I upload my screenshots, so that I can post them on the forum?

 

This can be done in plenty of ways, however we suggest doing it the simple way as there is no need for complications:

• Using online image sharing/hosting sites such as Imgur, that allows you to upload your pictures and you just have to copy the URL and paste it wherever you want.

 

It doesn't really matter which image uploader website you opt to use, just remember to post the direct link of the screenshot, otherwise it won’t show up properly and we won't be able to see it.
