The Wartale Rulebook

The Wartale Rulebook applies for all Wartale services and all users agree that they have read and understood the rules, and keep themselves informed about updates in the set of rules. Together with the Terms of Service all users of Wartale must abide by The Wartale Rulebook. A violation of The Wartale Rulebook may lead to consequences for the violator depending on the severity of the violation. The different kinds of violations will be further elaborated in The Wartale Rulebook, so make sure you read it all through thoroughly.

General Information:
The Wartale Rulebook is not made to criticize anyone, but to avoid that, we Moderators and Administrators spend all our time on keeping the game and forum tidy.

The Wartale Rulebook is interpreted and enforced by Moderators and Administrators (the 'Staff'). Please note that only the English version of The Wartale Rulebook is used by the Staff, and is the most updated.

The Wartale Staff is dedicating a lot of their spare-time on the operation of the site and game. Therefore, always respect the requests of the Staff. Disagreeing with Staff members is allowed, but do so in a neat and proper tone - this way will get your opinion the furthest Should you feel offended by a Staff member, then write a personal message (PM) to an Administrator or Moderator to clarify the situation. Direct or personal criticism of an Administrator or Moderator might lead to punishment.

A warning should not be taken as an ultimate punishment but as a reminder to conform to the rules.

Most rules here are based on common sense alone. By following the rules below and using common sense, you will have an enjoyable visit on the forum and in-game and you will make others' visits enjoyable as well!

Rules of Conduct - Forum

The following rules are to be followed by every user in this forum with no exceptions, and these must be enforced by staff members only. Moreover, these rules apply to the whole forum, which means that avatars, signatures and personal messages are also subject to them.

1. Respect - Respect other users

Respect other users so you can gain their respect. You must respect everyone's opinions, even if you disagree with them. You have the right to express your opinion and show others why they might be wrong, but do not start insulting other users while doing that. Opinions can be peacefully discussed. Do not personally attack someone. Do not insult someone regarding aspects that have nothing to do with the game, such as their physical appearance. Do not provoke other users. Disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated. If someone is misbehaving, block him and report it, do not respond with insulting or other disrespectful behaviour.

Actions taken against violations:

Deletion of offending material
The material that violated the rules may be edited or deleted.

Informal warning
An informal warning is given if the Moderator or Administrator decides that the offense is not severe enough to ban the user. An informal warning is a private correspondence between the Moderator or Administrator and the violator advising the violator of the offense and what (s)he can do to correct it.

Ban
If the user continues violating the rules despite being warned, or if the violation alone is severe enough, he will be banned. There are different types of bans which the Moderators or Administrators may choose from. These include (but are not limited to):

Fixed time forum account ban; duration usually varies from 1 day to few weeks
Posting suspension from forum, the user will be able to read the forum but is restricted from posting; duration usually varies from 1 day to few weeks
Permanent forum ban
In severe enough cases, related in-game accounts may be banned as well for the violations on forums
IP ban; used in extreme cases where there are several violations, or in cases where the violator has shown completely unacceptable behavior

Rules of Conduct - Game

The following rules administrate basic interaction in the Wartale game. Please be aware that failure to comply with these rules of conduct may result in punishment by termination of your game account.

1. Respect - Respect other users

You must respect others and their rights to play and enjoy the game. To this end, you may not show any kind of racism to other players. Using any nick name that is deemed as inappropriate by us will result in a random name change and you are responsible for a new name change. Using same nick name to pretend someone else for bad intention will result in permanent ban. All players should stay as polite as possible - being immature and childish behavior can lead to punishment.

Using any kind of bad language toward others intentionally or because of being provoked, especially in public, will lead to heavy punishment. It is our staff's discretion to determine what is considered as bad language when you are making a report. Obnoxious provoking is also not allowed. Do not personally attack someone. Do not insult someone regarding aspects that have nothing to do with the game, such as their physical appearance. If someone is misbehaving, such as insulting, then do not insult back, as this will get yourself punished too. Instead, you should block and report that person.

Looting is forbidden in game; you must not take drop from someone for any reason - this action will be considered as bad behavior and may lead to punishment.

4. Cheating - Do not make use of anything illegal to gain advantages

You must not use or create any unauthorized third party software that directly or indirectly interferes with the intended game play. To this extent, you may not make use of any automated software, including but not limited to bots, auto-clickers, macro tools or other software that interacts with the Wartale software.

You are not allowed to use or create any hacking or cheating software that modifies the functioning of the Wartale software.

You must not modify any part of the Wartale client in order to gain advantages over other players.

You must not use or create any unauthorized software that is made specifically for Wartale.

You must not AFK while your character is playing on maps. GM will patrol daily for this.

Any unauthorized actions that modify, damage, cause downtime, attack or otherwise alter the server are not allowed and will result in a permanent ban.

Breaking this rule may result in punishments of up to a permanent ban of access to the game and website, permanent ban of all all game accounts directly involved in the offense and permanent ban of game accounts related to the offense. All game accounts accessed by the offender may be temporarily or permanently locked from trading and/or banned temporarily or permanently and/or have items, gold or coins removed and/or have its characters have their level reduced.

7. Kill Stealing (KS) - Do not KS other players

Kill Stealing (KS) is an offense and may lead to punishment (this rule doesn't apply to boss and event monsters).

It is up to users to prove their right to a spawn, it is assumed to be no one's until proven otherwise. If a user(s) cannot prove the spawn was free of other user(s) before fighting in a spawn, their portion of the case is dismissed. If both the offending and defending parties cannot prove this, the entire case is dismissed. If a user is not responding for 15 minutes or greater, they are considered not to be present and the spawn is thus free of their claim to it [their character alone does not make them present in a spawn]. Additionally, 1 person cannot claim the whole main HS in hunting maps, the spawn will become available to other people after 15 minutes. Proving this is entirely up to the user, and intervals of less than 15 minutes of no response will not be considered and in this situation they can be reported for kill stealing themselves with an ensuing punishment. Should a user become present again by response or action who was previously not, they are considered the kill stealer if they were proven not to be considered present for at least 15 minutes and will be given appropriate punishment.

8. PvP Boosting - Do not artificially boost Battle EXP

Battle EXP boosting means gaining Battle EXP points without true PvP play. There are measures set in-game to prevent this from being possible easily. Intentionally circumventing these measures is not allowed. If we determine you are indeed artificially boosting Battle EXP, either caught by us directly or by User Report, we will simply reset your Battle EXP to zero.

This rule has recently been reinstated. Got a good video of someone artificially boosting Battle EXP? Just post it on forum on User Report. A good video is made by aiming the mouse cursor over the offending player's character (so the name is visible) while they're there killing one or more other players who don't really fight back, meaning there is no real PvP going on. Try to make the video last at least 3 kills. A longer duration video showing more "fake" kills is better. A video with just one kill is generally not enough for us to decide if it was intentional.

9. Real Money Trading - Do not sell/buy/trade Wartale content for real currencies

It is strictly forbidden to sell in-game property or anything else related to Wartale for real currencies or trade it for content from other PT servers. You may only sell Wartale content for in-game gold or coins or trade it for other Wartale content.

Also, trading of Wartale content (such as accounts and items) outside Wartale (game or forum) is strictly forbidden and may lead to punishment.

Advertising the intent to or commit the act of buying or selling game content for real money around the donation-system, will lead to punishment.

Actions taken against violations:

Accomplice
If you know an offending (violating) user and you do not report that offending user to the Staff, you may face similar or the same consequences as the offending user. If you are part of a group of offending users, then no matter if you are contributing to the offense in a lesser extent than another offending user, you may face similar or the same consequences as the other offending user. If a Staff member requests you to cooperate, by sharing information or otherwise, and you intentionally hide information that could help Staff with catching an offending user, you may face similar or the same consequences as the offending user. You can contact Staff through the Forum, you can ask for your report to be handled anonymously.
