This is just sad, to be honest.

Not even funny.

Ah, the joys of being a forum moderator. How I don't miss it in the slightest.

IPs are given to you by your ISP. They are usually dynamic with a timeout unless otherwise specified, so restarting the router won't necessarily work. Even if the IP does expire, the ISP may hand out the same IP to you again unless someone else sntaches it first.

Ah ok, thnx for clearing that out :D

I meant she's a sad person.

Maybe she should take her own advice and get a life.

If you desperately want to change your IP quickly (and assuming your IP is dynamic), you can always try spoofing your MAC. It should get the job done in most cases.

I thought attacking users was forbidden o_o

In this case, it's an eye for an eye.

Well actually...she just went too far, too often. You can't say that she didn't have any warning. One must be pretty goddamned ignorant to think after all this they would get away scot-free?

I'm still willing to let bygones be bygones though, if she would actually learn to stop.

Or u could always use a proxyserver :)

spoofing my mac? whats spoofing and what is my MAC?

Okay...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address

Basically, a MAC address is a unique identifier for a network card (and modems, routers etc. that use some form of NIC). It's usually hard coded into the hardware, so you can't change it without changing the hardware. You can however spoof it (i.e. fake it). Now, I haven't done this myself since I've never had reason to, but if I remember correctly, Windows caches the MAC address into memory when the computer starts and reads it from there instead of the NIC in order to save time. So, while you can't change the MAC on the card, you can change the cached MAC by writing to the space in memory where the MAC is stored. For Linux, it's even easier to change (ifconfig).

The MAC address is used for addressing below IP level. When you connect to the Internet through your ISP, you first have to get an IP address. This is when the MAC is important, because that's the only way the ISP can identify you, and it lets you communicate on the local ISP subnet. Some ISPs may store your MAC in a table and try to give you the same IP each time you request a new one. For DSL connections and the like, spoofing the MAC would mean the ISP can't find you in the table, and therefore gives you a random free IP address. For some connections, the ISP may identify you as a valid subscriber by the MAC, so changing in then may make them refuse to give you an IP entirely (okay, so I wasn't completely accurate when I said it would work in most cases).

Or u could always use a proxyserver

You could, but it will probably cost you money and/or slow down your connection. If you just want a different IP, proxies are overkill. They can however be useful for anonymity, which I suppose could be relevant. For instance, I could theoretically ensure that no one, including my own ISP, would know what I doing on the Internet.

I saw many people who attacked staff members, spammed nonsenses and even were flamming through forum but I don't see the same treatment

I see two sides, both acting wrong but the action is directed to one side only

To forum problems, rules. There are proper rules for that, I can't see why the Hamurabi's Code should be applied. Different from what it was before mods got all tools to make their work, there's no need to keep discussing up

It's not funny to me. Many people pissed me off when I was mod, I couldn't do anything about that and I got retaliated 'cause of arguing and stuff

Now they got more tools in hands, enough to solve all this, and different from what it was, 2 arguing, it's a real massacre, many against just 1 and not even warnings were given to one side

they stopped, she didn't.

I don't know who else you're talking about, but noone I have seen thus far has taken this to the extent she has.

If there were cases that you had been involved in personally, I remember I had banned them as you requested.

In any other instance, PMs would have stayed PMs. I have personally stated that if I have done anything questionable, I would be happy to solve all problems in PM, or they could take it up with the admins.

She did not send me PMs to try and solve the problem. She sent me insults.

Yes, we have 'more tools', but she bypasses her bans time and time again with new accounts and IPs. Other people have insulted staff (you), but they have learned. She hasn't.

Rethinking the situation, I agree with you that perhaps this public humiliation has gone too far.

Locked.

If you feel like you were wrongly treated during your time as a mod, I would like to apologize to you on behalf of everyone else involved.

I would also like to extend an apology to Emily; you don't deserve to be antagonized like this.

However, this does not mean I will retract whatever punishment you deserve for your wrongful actions.
