If you have ever looked at the formulas for Dias and other used mage skills other than death ray, you would see that Lvl 10 Dias has --83(+Spirit/2 +min Wand AP*2) - 128(+Spirit +max Wand AP*2)--. I have a pretty average 111 mage with average weapons.

 

For me with 536 spirit and with spirit elemental this is my damage:

 

Wand--83(+528) - 128(+898) = 611-1026

Staff--83(+576) - 128(+954) = 659-1082

 

 

My Abs and Def(orb)

 

Wand-- 123, 2229

Staff-- 102, 1715

 

For weaker mobs would you change to staff?

Most Mages do change to staff on weaker mobs yes...

 

then to wand and orb or shield for harder...

 

to me if i can use the staff ok... then im  in way to low a lvl...

I don't see the reason not to change to staff if you can tank the weaker mobs. Same reason why Knights go 2 handed.

for me totally worth it! i kill easier especially in SOD  which means more kills = more gold

It's not a huuuge difference.  Maybe in Sod, as ministop said. But for leveling i feel more comfortable with wand, since i feel like i don't tank shit.

Let's see hos it goes with the new ABS formula, though.

not really much different in PvE between wand and staff

 

PVP wand and staff have a big different

 

so if ur PVE doesnt matter much, but ill go wand to train sod etc but hunting staff

 

PVP wand too but staff can kill faster and higher dmg but ull die very quick since mage have no tanking ability in BC

 

so 1on1 staff

aoe wand to survive and spam more skill if u cant tank the map with 2 hand
