Death Ray damage with spirit elemental

Does spirit elemental increase death ray damage as it should?

If your base damage is like 500 average, your damage with maxed amplify should be: 500+500*1.38 = 1190.

Now, with spirit elemental, your damage should be like this:

500+500*1.38+500*2.00= 2190

Unless it is like this, which is even more unlikely: 1190+1190*2.00 = 3570.

Not bad on paper but I don't think it works in game. My mage does the same damage with death ray (apparently) with or without spirit elemental. Can anyone confirm?

Unless SE is working merely on base skill damage (i.e. without affecting the added damage from spirit and wands), I don't know why there is no noticeable difference.

Spirit Elemental does only work on static damage, so it's no surprise that you don't notice it. The difference between using L10 Spirit Elemental or not on a L10 Death ray is 180 min and 238 max damage.

Seems that you're right...which is kinda weak because the added damage from SE does not increase as you pump spirit.

For Death Ray, no. Take a look at Meteorite though, and the situation is somewhat different (376-436 extra damage per hit, of which there are 3 per cast).

So far, it looks like amplify acts in a similar manner...might as well give a static damage boost rather than a "percentage". Maxed amplify does not do over 2x damage as is claimed (or as is misinterpreted by many).

im pretty sure it does. at least it does more than just boosting static damage of DR.

Yeah, you're right about amplify.
