Many people believe that encountering a Koukos in a dream is a divine sign, a foretelling that the dream will come true. This belief feeds the folkloric tradition of creating idols of owls and placing them in the forest in the expectation that Koukos will come pay a visit while they sleep. However, no one has been able to explain where these animals actually come from. According to the Clergy of Phillai they are animals from the Aether, originally commanded by guardian spirits, but that they somehow can descend to the material plane.

 

Koukos chooses their own owners, so don't be alarmed if you hear a hoot in the middle of the night... at the very least, you can say you've dreamt about this owl.
