Game support for MacOS (Apple Silicon)

Hello folks, wish you all happy new year!

So I've played Wartale in the past in a Windows PC, but nowadays I only own a Macbook Air M2 (ARM processor) that's my personal, work and only computer nowadays (not really looking forward on purchasing a Windows PC to play a few games).

I was here longing to get back playing Wartale. Unfortunately, unlike Mac Intel chip based that had BootCamp, there's no way currently to run Windows natively in a partition on new M-series Arm Macs.

So after trying with VMs + Windows ARM preview iso and noticing that VMs are not allowed by Wartale, I tried the workaround to "directly" run Wartale app inside Mac using Wine + Xcode GamePortingToolkit from Apple. The game was working great initially, I was able to login just fine and select a char, but as soon as the game loaded my char in Ricarten, I got DC and my account got banned - so I suppose the game/anti-cheat protector thought I was using any illegal program or maybe some kind of Virtual Machine, not sure.

Thing is, the game was working properly, even without the need of Virtualizing nor Natively running a Windows OS, and so I guess this cannot be classified as a Virtualization (and Wine itself states that "Wine is not an Emulator").

Additionally, this new development game tool for Xcode - Game Porting Toolkit - was recently released in latest (2023) Apple's WWDC and it seems to be a great and really powerful tool to easily Port games from Windows to Apple Silicon Macs (of course I'm saying for what I see, but of course I don't know what are the development implications and real efforts of going down this path), as that new Tool translates windows DirectX layer to Apple Metal layer gracefully. I've experienced myself that it works great, and an individual one can easily find multiple videos in YT of people playing Steam Windows only games on top of those tools in Mac. It's really wonderful and exciting!

With that said, is there, by any chance, a future plan from Wartale dev team to add support to Apple Silicon Macs (ARM) processors by adopting the latest XCode GamePortingToolkit?
Or at least whitelist in the game/anti-cheat protectors the Apple ARM PCs that are trying to run the game (Windows .exe file)  themselves by using Wine + GPTK?

Any chance that Wartale Dev team could take this feature request in a near future?

I'm not really sure on how many players would benefit from this support/or whitelisting (maybe I'm the only one? as I couldn't really find any topic related to "Mac" in the forum at all).
But it's really sad that Macbook M-series owners aren't able to play at all this gem called Wartale, even though there already are ways to run the Windows files directly in Mac even without using VMs at all.

If that request could be taken, I would appreciate really much! It would also be nice to see in this post if there are others in the community who would love having this support!

Thank you for all the hardwork and great efforts put into Wartale that makes it the best PT ever! You guys are really awesome, congratulations!

Sincerely,
Bruno Pessoa.

Hi,

Unfortunately, we can only provide Windows support as the game was developed under it.

However, the game do support to run under ARM CPU.

For Apple Silicon MAC, the game is running fine under Parallels Desktop for Mac.

I will refer this to our Dev team to see if they can allow certain tool on MAC to run the game.

Ohh I see, that's awesome news - even though I don't love Parallels pricing but good to know that it's supported on it at least!

And many thanks for referring this to the Dev team!

Thank you for all the info and support!

We don't support Parallels Desktop for Mac either. Just I have tried it previously and it was working fine.
You might want to try it before making your purchase.

I am having trouble running Wartale on Bootcamp Windows for MacOS (older Intel CPU). Is this because Wartale treats bootcamp as a Virtual Machine and blocks it? Is there a way to play WT on MacOS?

Thanks!

Thanks!

If MAC is your only option please send your account details to Senpai via PM and explain what happen so you can be allowed to play on VM.
