Annoying little dragon on my shoulder?

I just started today. I have this annoying little dragon named Eor on my shoulder. He won't go away. He never stops talking, nothing he says is useful, and the text box covers way too much screen real estate. How the hell do I turn this stupid thing off?

 

edit: I'm more amusedly confused than angry, fwiw. I just really wanna get rid of him.
