How reasonable is it to invest so much in a game just to play any kind of pvp?

Would it be fair for a culturally pay-to-win MMO to have a PvP mode where any player could participate in a balanced way?

What are the pros and cons of this in your opinion?

 

If the battlegrounds we have today were balanced in terms of attributes, would it be better or worse compared to how it is now?

There are two types of players: regular players and whales.

 

Whether we like it or not, whales bring money to the server and keep development going. But focusing solely on them isn't a good in the long run. A game like that will remain empty within a very small bubble. That's not the case with Wartale, in my opinion. I see that they have strived over the years to deliver content that benefits everyone. However, there are many points that still need to be addressed.

 

Having content for players who invest a lot of money isn't the problem. The real problem is not benefiting the majority of other players who are always online. We need PvP content for regular players.

 

To do this, we need to clearly separate these player categories and target content towards them. And one way to solve this problem efficiently would be a balanced PvP system where everyone is equal in all aspects. This creates a fun possibility for regular players (including new ones) to go straight to PvP, earn rewards, and feel that the game is very active and rewarding.

In short, it's possible to create PvP content that rewards both those who dedicate a lot of time and money to it, and those who play under normal circumstances (people who are always online but can only play for a few hours).

If you only have whales, who will feed them? What will happen if they have no one to show off to? 

The only problem I personally see is when the content is ONLY tailored, balanced and suitable to that small percentage of the player base and not friendly to attract new players and potentially new whales to the game.

 

Also, these whales are not just contributing towards the server, they are actually contributing more to people who live off the game as their primary work than to the server itself. But I won’t go there or some people will get mad 😅

To answer your question, if battlegrounds was balanced I believed it would be used instead of being the way it is, just abandoned. Nobody likes to join a game where they know it is impossible to win. That is what it feels like when you try to PvP without being one of the top characters. There is just no way to compete.

 

People want to be able to say how good they are and show off their skills, what better way to show that than leveling the playing field?

That's enough to summarize my point of view

Many say that Wartale is dominated by PvE players and therefore doesn't have decent PvP. But what we have in terms of PvP is content for 80 characters across the entire server.

Wartale pvp has been completely demolished by decades of exp service and super drops like draxos boots and centlon brac not being char bound items. Also the stupid need for 5 clients opens for mule buffs finishes the job of fully destroying pvp.

 

The worst part is the game staff acting as it is all normal and etc, pure guilty dodging and nothing else. AT LEAST this a side effect of they having way too much things to do at the same.

 

As i said other times, this game has a legendary developer, also a legendary art team. They really know how to develop things with super quality but they fail miserably on deciding WHAT to develop. They lack SO MUCH on a decent game CEO with 2 big balls that tells them what to do and when to do assuming all the risk of rejection alone. They also fail on realizing this need at all. When they feel tired they stop and think 'u know what? This is good enough, nobody ever made it better'. They lack on having the desire to crush their own records like a F1 driver. But once again, AT LEAST this a side effect of they having way too much things to do at the same.

 

There is a topic over 1 year old of senpai asking about mule buffs, so far no visible thing changed since then.

 

This game needs a 2k testosterone CEO and a sexy secretary who talks to the team in a gentle and polite way to avoid stress.

this new chest pvp content is ridiculous, a few hours ago GM summon centlon with a lot of players in the middle of chest and was taken in seconds xD 
when pirate content is anounced i expected like a map domination with faction wars...

True. I'm mostly a PvE player, but I don't mind PvP every once in a while. But to me, being a low level char, I have no option of even partaking in PvP. I find it funny that they brought the Pirate Expansion and their quests are level 105, but really, who at this level is able to do any sort of PvP or Pirate Chest? haha Might as well say it is a level 150+ content, and even then, some 15x players don't even have a chance of killing anyone in there xD

I agree. I had way higher expectation on the Pirate content. The way the chest is right now it feels very underwhelming. You just have to click it as fast as you can and hope that nobody stops you from gathering by stunning/killing you and it's gone in 10 seconds haha There is not even the chaos of Clans really fighting for it. Most of the time people with high Evasion/Block/Vit/etc just trying to pick it up before they get stopped and some of their clanmates trying to stop people from other clans. But if you kill them once, now the chest is already gone and its over.

 

I even managed to steal 2 chests out of some higher level people's faces, when it was late and only a few people were around, with my Level 144 MS, but I have no space in even trying to kill anyone in there. I barely even go to the map, unless I'm playing late at night and I see less people there.

As I said, currently the game is designed to reward "big whales" and that's fine, it's a dated game, designed for that. That's why I thought it was interesting to open this discussion... What would be the problem with having only one mode in which pay-to-win has no effect? Just asking that the battleground be balanced, the game would still reward pay-to-win in SW, SoD, Warmode, pirate chest, Exp, etc....

maybe battlegrounds can be like battle royale, all same level, and itens can be found on chests/ground...only advantage in relics
