KatoN 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2010 because your pc was hibernating? No, I was playing... Without any bugs at all and I had this stupid idea. A few games show error mesages when I do it. XIII for example, it shows on almost all PCs a "D3D Device::creation error" and closes.
Electron 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 Did you run on full screen? This error occurs when the Direct3D Surface is lost, this only occurs when you start another application in Full Screen mode, or you switch users on Windows. PT tries to restore the Surface, but that code is bugged and causes a fatal crash always. I've actually been rewriting a portion of PT's 3D engine for Tier5 lately, and the next update should be a big performance upgrade mostly for WinVista and Win7. I play on a Windows XP x86, Fullscreen 1024x768 and there was no other full screen aplication/game open. It only happened one time (I like to find bugs and erros in games) when I had noting to do... Well, my PC is really messed up and I'll format it as soon as I can. Thanks for the info, it's good to know why it happens. BTW my GeForce FX5200 is really old and it's not working correcty, so maybe it helped a little for this error.
