About Element Resistances.

I want to ask about how Element resistance affect our defense or abs.

 

For example: You have Organic 40 and 180 abs, if an organic attack hit you, then it is considered that you have 220 abs again that attack ?

 

Or is it work in other way ? Can anyone explain this to me. I know that Element resistance does contribute to our defense but I don't know how far, or how significant it can affect.

As far I know Elemental Resistence works in the same way as Absorption depending of the resistence, so your Organic example was right.
