fernando 104 Report post Posted November 7, 2017 Hello guys! I don't know if someone here upload videos to youtube, but maybe some of you may have more information than me about what I'll ask. I was searching about copyrights problems about upload gameplays from all kind of games on youtube, but most informations that I found were from 2014, 2015. Most of them says that some companies doesnt allow you to upload videos about their games (like Nintendo), otherwise you may get a strike or claim . I mean, everytime I check youtube, I see a lot of gameplay videos from all kind of games, some from priston, others from Super Mario Bros, warcraft, etc etc, and they keep there (idk if they are receiving for it). Is it allowed or not? and which are the things that can't do in a gameplay video in order to receive for it? For example, am I allowed to record a video from wPT and upload it on youtube? Idk if I was clear enough, but hope someone could help me about this. If you have any question about my question (lol), ask me then I'll try to explain better. Thank you all :)
DarkLink64 921 Report post Posted November 7, 2017 You can post any video of any game. You're completely free to do that. Copyright and Content ID applies on monetizing said videos. Nintendo ALLOWS anyone to post video about their games, but, if you want to monetize Nintendo related games, you have to be a partner from them and share some of the video ad-sense profit with them. Very few IP holders does that. Nintendo is one of them. Striking a video only happens when your channel is very popular (like millions of subs, and videos with 300k+) and usually when adding adult themes to said videos. Most videos goes without problems, even when monetizing. What causes more problem to gameplay videos is music. Usually players and youtubers (like me) likes to put their favourite music on their videos, but music is severly protected by Content ID. It's a matter of seconds before your video have it's monetizing blocked. Again, without monetizing, most videos goes through. Some music publishers, like the big ones, may block your video to some countries or platforms, even if the video is not monetized. I have a video that is blocked to cellphones and a lot of european countries. Yeah, that sucks. But, game music hardly goes through Content ID!
fernando 104 Report post Posted November 7, 2017 Ok, so let me see: As long as I record a gameplay (except Nintendo games), doesn't matter if I'm showing the game or just enjoying it, my video will be monetized, right? (as long as I don't use any music from a group or stuffs like that which contains copyright). You said: 'But, game music hardly goes through Content ID!'. are you talking about game soundtracks or songs from groups? is allowed to let game soundtrack playing while I play? Is there any other advice that you could give me in order to prevent any future problem about gameplays and these stuffs? Thank you so much for support bro! Read more You got it wrong, you CAN record Nintendo gameplays. I've did it many times and I didn't got any strike/block. https://r.ncp.nintendo.net/guide/ I'm talking yeh, about game soundtracks, namely old ones. Moderns might get caught on Content ID. Games that uses musics from bands, like EA sports games, will get caught on Content ID. There isn't much of advice I can give you - just do whatever you want. If anything in regards of copyright happens with your videos, you will be notified, and monetizing will be removed from said video - not from your channel as a whole. But monetizing on youtube is a garbage. To make real money, you have to score millions of views on a single video, or make videos daily that can achieve 500k+. For normal people like us, expect making 10$ Dollars at max over your entire life on AD Sense haha Edited November 8, 2017 by DarkLink64
