This game is one of a kind and quite old now

I just wanted to pipe in, Wartale takes everything that was promised in 2002 to 2004 and multiplies it by 1,000! Very impressed. I first got on to play this game just as it wrapped up beta testing with version 1.59 or 1.61, I forget now. My son, who was 13 at the time, showed me this game and we've played it off and on through the years. Taking long enough gaps sometimes, I have to relearn the jargon and remember how to leave a party without logging off, lol.

 

It went through many stages, but the initial development was painfully slow. There was no Morion tribe until 2004 or so, and it was rare to find a transparo in a drop, let alone a bellum. So rare, in fact, that people got really pissed if you grabbed their drop, some transparos were definitely scammed from their legit owners, lol. Oddly enough, despite how bare bones the game was, it was cool to meet people from just about everywhere on the planet all in this little world forming friendships with some and cursing some others out. People are more polite now, that's good and probably cause GMs now banish abusive players. 

 

In the first two years, gemming and aging hadn't started yet, let alone modifying your sheltoms or respec'ing an item. Navisko had a different name, I forgot now, but it was new along with the first two deserts, just called D1 and D2. There were only three songs in whole game and four character types, now it's several dozen. Only took 12 years. Meanwhile, back in 2002, you also had Talesweaver and Ragnarok online debut, Korean based MMORPGs had arrived and we've not looked back since. Wartale is still kind of aging in sense that can't have more than one specialty, can't jump or do special hand waves like later games, but it's still pretty fun and straight forward. I like that I don't have to think too much when I play this game. Thanks, Wartale, for keeping it going, may it go on another 10 years. BTW, there was supposed to be a third tribe, wonder if that's off the table now.

well i liked the official community more than on any other Private servers ever been.
but, i don't have to look for the stupid ones right ?

this game has something that doesn't look like other games and it is special for it is own way.
